AVI files no longer showing in Powerpoint

Following upgrading to XP servicepack2, previously running powerpoint
presentations containing AVI loops now mostly, but strangely not allway, just
show a still picture- but when activing the file to show, only a white
rectangel in the AVI-loop area is shown. I have upgraded to latest office
version, and then the rectangel is white, but it was black with my earlier
version of office.
Whn I copy a AVI loop and paste it works, but not using the PPT insert file
pathway.
Any suggestions.--

if its a white box it could be the 128 character path limitation
where are these files? move them to the desktop (my documents isn't the
desktop) or move them to a folder off the root eg c:\movies\

lost?

We've seen some reports here with this kind of thing after installation of
Windows XP SP-2, but many people are running WinXP SP-2 with no difficulties
like this at all. So it may be that something else is installed with WinXP
SP-2 that adversely affects some video in PPT on some systems. (Maybe
Windows Media Player is updated in the SP-2, and that's causing the
problem?)

Anyway, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Most companies that sell video cards have updated their drivers since the
release of Windows XP, service pack 2. Hmm. I wonder why. It's worth making
sure that you have updated to the latest driver available for your card. Go to
the website of your card's manufacturer and check in the support or downloads
section. ATI, for example, released new drivers as recently as last week.
