AVi file pauses

I created a movie in Windows Movie Maker 2.0...consisting of stills, transitions, audio, and graphics. Output to .wmv works great. However, I want to burn the movie to a CD to play on a DVD player. I saved the file as a .avi and converted it to mpeg2. Plays great on a DVD player...with a couple of exceptions of course. Two places in the video...the video and audio pause...for around 3 seconds and then it continues on. There are also few subtle pops and clicks in the audio throughout. I viewed the original .avi file to determine if this happened during the conversion (using TMPGEnc) but it was like that in the original .avi file before it was converted. Anyone have any suggestions on what I need to adjust to get a clean output of an .avi file from movie maker?

Hi there,

From what you have said, the fault appears to be in the creation of the AVI
and has nothing to do with the MPeg side of things.

Creating a DV-AVI file of substantial length places a high demand on your
system. If any other process requires CPU time (which it most certainly
will) you run the chance of causing a bottleneck in the DV-AVI creation
process. This can happen on the fastest of machines.

I have written a tutorial which covers various aspects of the creation
process. You might want to have a quick look at it to see if any of the
problem areas exist on your machine.

There are useful comments in both the FAQ on Movie Maker and in the
tutorial on Disk drives.
