Just getting to know AVG free edition. After scanning and it shows the
result, then I suppose we 'Virus Vault' it. Doesn't it fix anything or
remove the infected files like other antivirus programs? Apart from updating,
how can we tell the date of our latest definition? Appreciate if someone can
advice on the above as I cannot find these tips reading the same topic in
this ng, thanks

There are anti virus News Groups specifically for this type of discussion.

A Virus Vault is a quarantine to deal with False Positive detections. If the detection is
deemed false, it can be restored from the vault (quarantine). How the AV software acts will
be based upon the configuration on whether it uses a quaratine location or not.

Thats the problem with the free version. You need to manually delete some of
the virus that its detected. You can update avg by right clicking on the
icon at the task bar and choose update. If the icon is black and white
instead of red yellow then you need an update.

Many thanks
