AVG resident says I have a trojan but the AVG virus anti-virus isn't detecting it?

As the header says. It keeps popping up with the message "I have the
axload.c trojan" in my c/system information folder but that says the folder
contains 0 bytes and when I run the AVG anti-virus and the online systemac
one both say my pc is clean.

Anyone got any ideas?

My second prob is somewhat OT, but seeong as how no one from the relvant NG
have replied perhaps someone here may know what I can do:

I had F-secure installed but it wouldn't work with zone alarm so I
uninstalled it. Prob is, now ZA won't work, all I get is a system error,
please reboot. I've done this, uninstalled it and reinstalled it etc etc
None of the regular software detectors can find anything so I assume it's
hidden in the registry. Any ideas how I can resolve this as I don't have a
firewall at the mo!
(I have used an alternative version of ZA but still no luck)

thanks

Cliff,

bin AVG it is not the best! It really causes pain I used it in a
network, it let me down so I got Norman (not Norton) and have never
looked back since.

AVG does seem to have its weaknesses. Maybe not the answer your looking
for but best I can offer.

As for 2nd prob, I use a hardware firewall. I used to use ZA but binned it.

As you probably know the Registry is a sensitive area to work with but
I have found jv16 Power Tools, available for a thirty day free trial
from
http://www.macecraft.com/downloads/ an absolute boon in these
situations. It is possible having uninstalled Zone Alarm to go into
the registry and by entering various permutations of Zone Alarm such
as ZoneAlarm, Zone Alarm, ZoneLabs and Zone Labs to find every
instance that it is entered in the registry. You can then remove them
creating a backup in the process. I used it to remove Norton Internet
Securities and there were some two thousand entries for that. It
relates the entries to the product name.
Good Luck,
Reg

If it's in your system Volume information, is it in the restore folder?
If so the only thing you can & should do is remove the restore points.
Otherwise if you restore your PC to a date that you had it, it'll come
back. you'll lose your restore points from then, but you'll create a new
point when you turn it back on & it'll be a clean point.

For your 2nd issue go to the Zonelabs forum. You aren't the only person
tat had a problem with their automatic un install. There'll be a guide
in there somewhere in the achieves that explains what exactly to look
for.
