Running Win98 SE. Installed version 7 and all I got was a icon on the
desktop. I was expecting a menu under programs. Is a desktop icon all
we get?

Glad it worked....Sweep said:That fixed it, thanks a lot. BTW, I didn't use the email scanner on v6 and
don't intend to for this one. Would not installing the email scanner during
the advanced installation enable me to have my "colored" system tray icon?

number for me, is its wisdom ?
I'm really confused. Is this registration number is given at
installation for other people? Do I still need to go ask for a
registration number?
lugnut said:AVG 7 automatically uninstalls AVG6 and updates the data to
AVG7. During the process, it will display the new AVG7
registration number for you to record. As you continue, it
will automatically register the new version when it d/l's
it's new virus definitions.

that what matters most with an anti-virus prog is that it finds and deals

Richard Steven Hack said:I haven't installed it yet, by the images in the User Guide seem to
show it looks okay. This is the kind of interface you get now since
XP came out - something that looks good to five-year-olds - in other
words, management types...
I like that the Virus Vault and whatnot are right on the interface
instead of buried in menus.

"new look" a lot of programs have adopted. But believe me, the new AVG
interface is pretty abysmal by any standards!

Not complaining...just commenting! <GG>Amazing....
We are given a totally free program, that for me as well as the numerous
other friends I insist use it, has worked flawlessly since inception,
and people are complaining about its looks.
To me, very strange.

Michael Rainey said:A lot of negative comments on the AVG forum about being unable to update
signatures with the free version. When you try, you usually get a "Faulty
Internet Connection" message. The response seems to be that the server has
a limited capacity with large demands being made on it, and that the Pro
version doesn't have the problem.
I've just installed AVG for the first time tonight, so have some exploring
to do. This isn't a great beginning.
