avg 7.5 loop

When avg runs a complete system scan it ends up looking @ 'c:\volume
info\*.*' & is in a loop. Only way to stop it is with task manager. It
has already scanned >200000 objects. Tried chkdsk but no joy. Anyone
got any ideas? TIA

I had the same problem.
I tried re-installing AVG - no good.
I installed Avast and got the same result - it stalled on C:\svi.
In the end I uninstalled ZoneAlarm then re-installed it.
I suspect it was caused by cloning my system onto a new hard disk when
the old one started to misbehave.

Tried the same thing but no banana. Yet i did clone the hd like you
did. So perhaps i should try again. Thanks!

I did try other things before that.
Unfortunately I cannot remember them all.
I found others had suffered similar problems & I think most were fixed
by changing ZA.
I also uninstalled Acronis True Image.

Eric

This is really interesting. I also use ZA & Acronis true image. So
here is what i will try: uninstall Acronis, ZA & Avg. Then install Avg
ZA & acronis in that order & then test.

I've not re-installed Acronis.
I now have the bootable CD that I use to create backup images.

Well i think i am back in busiiness. Did the above & was able to avg
the c: drive. However, i was unable to install the paid avg (registry
error access is denied) & had to install the free. So currently have a
request into avg about the registry error.

Try downloading this file: http://www.grisoft.it/download/tools/set_permissions.zip
Extract the files to a folder and run reset_access.bat , it should fix
the registry problem.
The instructions are only in the italian website so if you know
italian: http://www.grisoft.it/grisoft/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=93&Itemid=110

Ciao,

Dan
