No. If you go into avast settings/sounds, you can disable all sounds, or
use advanced and just disable automatic update sounds, which is the one I
would suspect at that time if you aren't present doing anything.

No, but it has given me a start from time to time .. only now the computer
running Avast! has been switched to Grisoft AVG so it doesn't happen
anymore.

You can disable the sounds from the settings ..

thats what I do...

When I'm done using the computer, I turn it off. No problem with
Hibernation, sleep or other issues.

Not I. I have all Avast sounds turned off.

you'd think the Avast people would be smart enough
to disable sounds by default.
