av prog takes 1 minute to fire up

Whenever I wish to run my av program (Panda Titanium 2004) it takes at least
one full minute before the program appears to replace the av splashscreen,
what could be causing this?
 
I have Panda 2004 also. The program (AV) runs in the background checking
your files. That is why it takes so long to load. It's loaded, but
checking files. Email Panda and they will explain this to you.
