AutoPreview: Any help in combatting spam?

A

Alex

(Outlook 2002) Does turning on AutoPreview give you any
advantage as far as keeping the number of spam messages
down? I know some spammers receive a reply back if you
open their message, and that confirms you as a "live"
address.

Obviously if you AutoPreview set on, you can see what the
email is about and delete it without opening. But, I
guess what I am really asking is if you have AutoPreview
on, does that mean unread emails have been opened even if
you don't click on them to read them?

Thanks,
Alex

No, having AutoPreview on will not send anything back to spammers. As you
stated, it also allows you to delete a spam message without opening it.

It will *not* give you "any advantage as far as keeping the number of spam
messages down". For this, do a Google and check out MailWasher. It will
allow you to delete spam messages right off of your mail server, before they
ever reach your computer.
