Different handling of message in Autopreview and Previewpane inOutlook for custom form

Hi All,

I have an interesting phenomena-

We have a custom form in our application for Outlook which changes the
PR_MESSAGE_CLASS but enables
the standard IPM.Note form for the preview pane via the registry
entry.

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Custom Forms\Preview
IPM.IXOS-ARCHIVE=IPM.NOTE

The autopreview pane issues the error
"This item contains active content. Open the item to read the
contents."
but in the preview pane we see the body of the message just fine.

Does anyone have any ideas on what MAPI properties are used in the
autopreview as opposed to the Preview Pane in Outlook?

This only happens on some of the emails - most are visible in the
autopreview!

Regards,

That sounds backwards to me. Autopreview is the 3-line preview in a table
view. It should be displaying the value of the item's Body property. The
reading pane (aka preview pane in versions before Outlook 2003) displays the
message you see for any custom form that has code behind it. I think that
known limitation will apply even if you try to force the issue with the
(flawed, IMO) registry substitution technique.
