autoplay

My sister's WINXP Home Ed quit doing autoplay several moth's ago.
The CD spins and the CD access lite comes on along with the
disk lite but nothing more happens. I looked at the autoplay
options and they are set OK. This also happens with installation
CDs. She tried to install a Lexmark USB printer but it would not
autoload. I tried it on my WINXP PRO and it worked OK. She has
a Dell Dimemsion. I removed and then reinstalled the CD but that
didn't fix it.

Are you running any anti-virus software? I know that there are some policies
in place in McAfee VS 8.0 which prevent creation of autorun files remotely or
something like that. Maybe try temporarily turning off your virus scan (be
sure to turn it back on). If your CD now works, maybe try to find the policy
which prevents autorun from happening here.

Or maybe it's something else...
