Autoplay problem

I have this rather bizarre problem with Autoplay... twice recently, it has
decided to start all by itself, then stop, then start again, then start,
going over and over and over... I can't figure out why... there were no cds
in any drives, and Device Manager indicated all was well. Any ideas from
anybody here?

Thanks,
Eric

I tried that earlier today, but it seems to require me knowing the drive
that is affected, I think... but there doesn't seem to be a drive that is
having a problem... just the ghost Autoplay. When (and if) this occurs
again, I will run it again and try all options to see if I can't get it
fixed... thanks! :)

Actually, that didn't work; however, I have figured out the problem. I
finally investigated more thoroughly within the Device Manager. I noticed
that there was one drive with a name I didn't recognize... after much
thinking and looking around, I finally figured that it had the same name as
one of my printers -- specifically, the Brother MFC 210C. This puzzled me,
until I remembered that the printer has several slots for reading digital
camera media. Testing my theory, I unplugged the USB cable from the
printer... and the AutoPlay problem disappeared immediately! What I then
did, after plugging the cable back in, was to disable this "drive" (which is
how Windows sees the media... as a removable drive) in Device Manager.
Should I ever get a digital camera, I will gladly enable it, then reinstall
the device driver, which should fix the problem permanently.

Thanks,
Eric

That's great! I'm glad that you found out the answer to the problem... and
thanks for mentioning it to. I'm sure this is going to help out many others
with similar problems out there as well.
