Greetings,
I have a form (well, many forms) that have OLE objects that are Word
files. Up until last Friday, everything worked fine. Over the weekend
something happened and now, every time I try to access the OLE object,
I get the following:
Microsoft Access can't start the application required to open this
object.
An error occurred and this feature is no longer function properly.
Would you like to repair this feature now?
If I press "Yes", then I get a following message box that's title says:
Installing components for Microsoft Access
and the box itself says:
Installing: Application Server
It goes through this 3 times, looking like it's doing something. Then,
after the third time, I get the following message box:
The operation on the Document object failed.
The OLE server may not be registered.
To register the OLE server, reinstall it.
If I choose "No" to the first box, then it gives me the third box.
In searching through mounds of information, the only thing that any
seems to be able to say about this is that Norton seems to have a
problem, so make sure that it's Script Blocking is off.
Mine is off. In fact I went so far as to completely uninstall it.
I also uninstalled Access, reinstalled it.
I uninstalled Word, reinstalled it.
I uninstalled Office, reinstalled it.
I uninstalled Office again, with the msizap utility to wipe everything
out, reinstalled it.
I uninstalled Office again, installed Office 2003.
I uninstalled Office 2003, reinstalled Office XP.
I have create new databases in imported into it.
I have removed all references (except for VBA and Access).
I have Detect & Repaired Office.
I have Detect & Repaired XP.
Nothing seems to work. Everything works fine on other's computers.
With 120gb of stuff on my harddrive, I'd rather not wipe everything out
and start again.
Any suggestions?
