Automatically Lock XP (turn off?)

I have a Sony Laptop running Windows XP out of the box. My
issue is that the machine automatically locks itself after
a certain period of idle time. How do I turn this off?? Or
at LEAST make the lockout time much longer.

Thanks,
Adam

Don't enable password protect on your screen saver.

Check Power Options to see when the computer is configured to enter Standby or Hibernate modes. Change them as you want.

Right click desktop, properties, screen saver tab, uncheck: on resume
password protect or on resume display the welcome screen.

Unfortunately I already checked that...its not the screen
saver, XP is actually locking itself, as if the user was
clicking WindowsKey-L, or Ctrl-Alt-Del, then clicking 'Lock
Computer'. I checked the power settings and turned off
standby time, but I don't think thats it.

If you have the screen saver set to use on resume password protect, then
that's what it does, it locks the work station by either displaying the
welcome screen or displaying the computer is locked dialog box. If its not a
the setting in screen saver, then check your tasks and see if one is setup
to lock the station. Other than that, there is no setting in xp that
auto-locks the station after idle time. I'd do a check for spyware or
viruses.
