Automatic Updates

Start\Run\msconfig\System Configuration Utility\Services tab.

I have a service called "Automatic Updates," Microsoft Corporation,
running.

In System Properties\Automatic Updates tab, there is the following option:
"Keep my computer up to date. With this setting enabled, Windows Update
software may be automatically updated prior to applying any other
updates." I have it disabled.

1. Is this a conflict or are they two different things?

2. If they're two different things, is it possible/advisable to disable
the service called "Automatic Updates"?

Hi,

They are the same thing. One is an indicator of the service loading, the
other is the configuration of that service when it is loaded. If you have
disable the autoupdate feature, then you can disable the service as well (as
it isn't doing anything anyways).
