Automatic Updates

I need help getting automatic updates to run correctly. It ran fine several months ago - but now I never get a prompt that updates are available to install. I've done the following: right click on my computer/properties/automatic updates ... keep my computer up to date is checked, as is the first option under settings - notify me before downloading/installing updates. Still no notice in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen when I turn on my pc. I do have Norton Antivirus software running, as info - but don't know if that could be causing this to be blocked??

Try this: Disable Automatic Updates. Restart the computer. Re-enable
Automatic Updates. Go to Administrative Tools\Services and make sure that
the Automatic Updates Service is both Started and set to Automatic. Then
connect to the internet and leave your computer alone for an hour or so.

I recommend checking manually for Windows Updates. Some users have reported
that Automatic Updates is neither timely nor reliable.

Automatic Update has ALWAYS been un-reliable. I keep it on but manually
check daily just in case. Same problem with Norton AV.
