automatic updates

microsoft automatic update is not working. it goes to the scan for update
page and nothing happens. When I try to turn on my auto update, it shows that
it is on but I have no icon at the bottom of screen. It tells me to go to the
security section on the control panel and set to automatic, I do this and
nothing changes. I am running xp home edition

I am interested to learn what those entries would do , "Jose Gallardo" with
an accent over the e . Can you tell me please .

Nothing more than to register the dll files that could be unregistered (by virus, spyware, so on). It does not cause any harm.

I have my harddrive clicking most likely because the harddrive is not
getting enough power to process data . The electricity in this old house
could be upgraded according to two electricians , and the situation is
beginning to come uder control .
Meanwhile Windows just did a memory dump , a whole memory dump and this
happens about every 3 months .
I repaired the harddrive with Western Digitals WINDLG diagnostic tool .
So I have begun to think there is someone using a fairly sophisticated virus
or worm somewhere .
Then CheckDisk deleted some " deleting corrupt attribute record (128,
"") from the file record segment 6182 and AVG Antivirus took longer to scan
the bootup which seemed to be more thorough than befor the Memory dump .
I've no idea what all that means but it seems something that should not be
there is deleted . But What !
