Automatic Updates

In automatic updates I accidentally unchecked the box "keep my computer up to date", etc. When I tried to put a check in the box it stayed greyed out. Above the box it now says " The windows update service is unavailable. I tried the fixes from the 4/19/2004 post by Tan, and responded to by Michael Soloman, but the top one wouldn't work and I didn't want to try the bottom one (repair install) yet. I went into the registry and the folder for Windows update wasn't even there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
 
Go to control panel...administrative tools...services and make sure
automatic update is set to automatic.

Didn't think of that, tried it and it worked. Many thanks for the help. :)
