Automatic Updates question

I have a PC running XP Home SP1 with Automatic Updates turned on. SP2
is supposed to be released today via that route. When SP2 (or any critical
update) is downloading to my computer, there should be some type of icon in
my systray letting me know, correct?

Don't know, but there will likely be an installer downloaded
which will download the parts of SP2 you need. So there
will probably be no doubt of what is happening.

After it starts installing, you can tell by the whine of
your hard drive.

Yes - there should be. Which option for AU have you got enabled?

Download updates automatically but notify me before they are
installed. I figure that setting will allow me to get SP2 quickest.

Hi

Yes, that setting should show an icon advising you when the Update(s) have
been downloaded.

Hint: Redmond is on PDT (UTC -0700, assuming UTC and GMT are not the same).
PDT when you posted was 08:17.

Additionally, WinUp will not be offering everyone SP2 at once, rather it
will be "rolled out" to all users over the coming weeks. See my sig for
more.
