automatic updates appear to be off in security center

when I log on, I get a warning that auto updates is off. It appears off in
the security center, but it's on in the system properties window. Why does
this happen, and how can I fix the problem?

Hi,

In system properties, turn it off and back on again. Also, click start/run
and type services.msc, then click ok. Scroll to the AutoUpdate service,
double click it. Make sure it has started, and set the startup type to
automatic if it is not already.
