Automatic Update

Phil

My Automatic Update settings are
Automatic Update but notify me before install.

Today I went to Windows Update site and found 8 Critical Updates.

Why didn't Automatic Update download these critical updates?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Automatic Updates requires the Automatic Update service to be
running. The startup type should be set to "Automatic."

Check it:-

start>run>type in:serices.msc>ok
Right click on Automatic updates>properties>make sure that the startup
type is automatic and the service status is in 'started' mode.

Also check your date and time as for automatic update scheduling that's
very important.

My settings have not been changed. "Automatic Download and notify me to
install." Has worked fine in the past.
Could it be that all 8 updates were made available for download today?

Who knows. It is just another layer of crap to break in the process of
keeping your OS patched. It is best to take responsibility for the
patching process yourself.
