Automatic Update Problem

I am having trouble with Automatic Update. The last few
times I told Update to go ahead and install the new update
the process stalled. I then rebooted and went to the
Microsoft Update site and manually installed all critical
updates. This worked once or twice, but when I tried it
yesterday, the "New Updates Are Ready to Install" bubble
kept popping up even after the manual update was
successful. (Remember, this is after the automatic install
had failed.) Now I keep getting the bubble telling me
about Critical Update for Windows Media Player Script
Commands (KB828026). According to my update history, this
was successfully installed 3 times yesterday. What can I
do to stop the Automatic Update bubble from continuing to
pop up and tell me to install this?

One of my coworkers was experiencing a similar problem with a different
update; I will check with him and repost if I get any helpful information on
what he did to eliminate the message stating that new updates were
available.

Hi Tony, Just disable automatic updates. Whenever you have the time, go to
the update site and select what you want and what you do not require.
Have a nice weekend.

Farid,

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't think you could
disable Automatic Updates in XP. Do you know where I
would go to do that?
