Automatic Shutdown/Restart

My computer shuts down automatically after a few mintues..
I have an HCL computer with windows Xp. I recently got the mother-board
changed coz I was not getting display. The HCL guys put a second hand MB even
though the system was under warranty. Since then, the computer has been
re-starting on its own. When I told them about it, they said its because of
the SMP fan on the CPU which was changed along with the Mother Board, so they
replaced it, but the problem was not solved. Then that irritating fellow
changed the RAM card (I have 256 MB RAM) and he said its because of some
fault in the RAM. But since he changed it, the computer shuts down
automatically!
Now the HCL people are saying that my Windows XP is corrupt and they need to
format the whole drive and re-install Xpw which I don't want to as I have a
lot of Data!

I've been telling them that I think its because of the faulty Mother-board
that you guys replaced, but they are not ready to believe me and are saying
that its because of the Windows. Is it because of the MB or XP? Please help!
I also installed the Nokia PC Suit software around that time, which I
uninstalled later.. Could it be because of that?

P.S. All my Keyboard Lights blink once before the PC shuts down!
and it took me 3 efforts to type this whole thing because the PC would shut
down everytime I tried to complete my post, so please ignore typos if any as
I wrote all this in a fast speed...

Right click [My Computer] click [Properties] and select [Advanced] tab.
Click the [Settings] button in the [Startup and Recovery] section.
Remove the checkmark from [Automatically Restart] in [System Failure] section.

Back-up your data!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now you can read why your computer is rebooting. You can then pass this info
to customer service.

Hi vineet,
i read all that u have written about your problem. if you wanna confirm
whether its MB prob or Xp then do one thing, just repair your Xp
installation. Even if after that your problem persists then surely is a H/W
issue.
Thanks
