Automatic Scan Settings

The automatic scan settings, i.e. daily, 3:00 AM, full, do not work. Defender
will only run a scan, either full or quick when I use the manual setting.
Any one have a solution for this problem?

Hello,
The Windows Scheduled Task facility is not enabled. I have always had it
turned "off." I was able to update the Microsoft Anti-Spyware (Beta) without
using the scheduler.
I'm not planning on turning the scheduler on anytime in the near future...
However, thank you for the information.

There were a good many bugs in Microsoft Antispyware related to the
scheduling function, which was entirely built-in to the program. So--they
went with the scheduler provided by the OS in Windows Defender.

This should only prevent scheduled scans, and the automatic update which
optionally precedes such a scan--it should not interfere with updating,
which happens via either Auto Update or Windows Update.

Hi Thom

Unforetunately, there is known bug in the WD scheduler and it will "not"
work without setting up an OS Scheduled task as Bill suggested.

If you do want the instructions on how to do that (as you have the quirks of
quirks of unhiding the defender schedule) then search this forum group for
"WD won't scan automatically" and follow the instructions in that thread to
set up a windows scheduled task (as the WD scheduled one is known bug). Don't
forget to unhide the windows task etc as per instructions and set your "run
as" password.

Cheers
Jangles
