I've been trying to find out information on restarting a
Windows 2000 Server everyday at a specific time.

I would appriciate any information you might have.

I suppose that there is no reason you could not schedule a Shutdown.exe
task, with the right command lines.

But why would anyone want to shut down a perfectly working server? And every
day no less. Maybe as a cruel joke, to torment another admin...

Try downloading a utility such as "shutdown.exe". You can then use the "AT"
command to schedule it.

A very common reason for needing to do Daily and or Weekly "Shutdowns would
be on Systems running Citrix Metaframe or any other application that is
known to have "memory Leaks" Microsoft even recommends Performing Weekly
"Shutdown/Restarts" on all Window 2000 and 2003 Server that have Terminal
Services Running. It resolves issues such as hung sessions in the Terminal
Services Application.
