Hello,
Happy New Year 2004!

I have Windows XP at home and I am getting one screen,
which says that my laptop will restart in 1 min (and of
course after 1 min it restars!). I do get this problem
almost every single day. I wanted to know if any one can
tell me the exact cause and cure to resolve the problem I
am facing.

Thanks for your help!
Regards,
Mehul.

Hi Mehul,

See if this applies: However, this would be constant, not once a day. Good
luck!

To stop the reboots: Go to Start/Run and type in: services.msc. Scroll down
to Remote Procedure Call (RPC)/Recovery/First Failure/Restart the Service.

Close Windows Explorer, run the edit on line 257 which includes the prompt
for the patch once your system has been cleaned.

This script removes all variants of the W32.Blaster.Worm (original, B, C, D,
E and F) and will inform you whether or not the patch is already installed.

Hey howz it goin,
ive got the same problem with my computer right now. i
think its some virus or something. You can disable that
1min restart by going to Admin tools, Component services
and go to RPC and where is says restart computer, just
click on No action. and it wont restart but you still
need to get it fixed or it will stuff it even more.
HOpe that was some help

This may work, but it's patching a major arterial bleed with an
itty-bitty bandaid. This is the MSBlast or Blaster Worm. A google
search will turn up how to rid a system of it. First thing is to
patch your computer and quit ignoring MS security warnings; then get
decent firewall/AV software - and UPDATE the signatures of the AV
software regularly!
