Automatic play properties fail

Hello,
Have XP-Pro, SP2. Everything else updated.
When I put cd or dvd in driver, nothing happens.
I have to open program to start (ex. MusicMatch or InterVideo)
Properties , changes in "Automatic Play"configuration doesn't work.
Would like to make changes, but no responding.

Can someone help, please.
