automatic logon for windows xp pro

I used to be able to automatically logon when I turned my computer on,
however after running a windows update I can no longer auto login (I am
required to click on the username to login). I don;t have a password and am
not using any service packs (and wish to resolve this issue without
installing one)

Get TweakUI.
Use TweakUI to set it up so your user (with password) automatically logs in.

Without additional tools:

Of course it does, you don't think I'd just make this stuff up do you? <g>
Actually, glad to know you were happy with it and that it worked for you.
I'm a bit of a minimalist and if there's no need to download an application
to do something then I strive to avoid that and pass that ideal on in my
responses when I'm able to.

What I'm looking for is exactly the opposite of what the original post asked.
For some reason one of my Windows XP Media Center Edition automatically
logs into my account. I don't want it to do that. I've looked extensively
though the options available for users and have setup my system to require a
password on that account to login. However whenever I reboot, this one
computer automatically logs into the first account I setup on this computer.
How can I get it to require a password entry before logging in? I'm at a
loss and can't find an answer after many attempts searching through the
knowledge base. What bugs me even more is I have two other Windows XP Media
Center Edition PCs that don't do this to me.

Help!

Well, it's just the reverse:

Automatic Login:

Change step #5 to TICK and you should be all set. Basically you're setting
it to require user/pass to access the PC.

Thanks Galen! I thought for sure I had this set correctly, but when I looked
based upon your suggestion, that option was unchecked! Now it works
properly. Before it would automatically login to my account whenever the PC
booted up. I have really disliked that all this time!

Happy New Year to you!
