Automatic Administrator Logon

Every time I boot or reboot the computer, it automatically logs onto the
administrator account - even though I have another account created, and the
guest user turned on.

I can do Start / Log Off to exit the Administrator, and then log on via the
normal screen (which just shows the one user, plus the guest options).

The Administrator had a password assigned from the start, and I changed it
to see if this might help, but it does not. Even though there's a password
assigned, the system boots straight into the Administrator's account (without
asking for a password, or giving me the opportunity to select a different
user).

I figured this was as simple as changing a registry entry, but none of the
ones I looked at jumped out at me as obviously being the one (so I didn't
touch anything).

Windows XP Pro, with SP2 and all the recent patches installed.

Cheers,
John

Start>Run and type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes. There you may change the logon.

Thank you! Worked like a charm.

I was able to find some of those options before in the Admin Tools screen,
but didn't see the "users must log in with password" checkbox before -
turning that on fixed the problem.

FYI, I did try to disable the Administrator account before. This forced the
login screen to come up (with the "administrator account disabled" error).
But that wasn't the full solution I was hoping for.

Thanks again!!!!
