Hi, I hope you all are doing well.

I have new PC w/XP. I had old Lotus files not converted to Excel to-date and
installed old version of Lotus to run them. When I first installed Lotus (an
old version), I received msg stating autoexec.nt not found. I found it in
another folder on PC, copied it to C:\windows\system32 and everything worked
just fine. However, everytime I shut down my PC and restart it, the same
thing happens--the autoexec.nt file is missing from win\sys32 folder, so I
copy and paste it back into folder.

Is there a way to prevent this mysterious disappearance of the autoexec.nt
file form the ..\system32 folder?

Thanks in advance.

Your machine is infected with some spyware or malware. Download,
install and run AdAware to get rid of it.

Seems to be an epidemic lately....

This can be caused by a trojan.

Get rid of the trojan.

Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

Copy the autoexec.nt file from C:\Windows\Repair to C:\Windows\System32.
And set Attributes for autoexec.nt to Read-only.

Read-only
[[Specifies whether this file is read-only, which means that it cannot be
changed or accidentally deleted.]]

1. Right click the file.
2. Properties.
3. Select: Read-only.
4. Click: Apply.
5. Click: OK.
