I have a program that when I try to run occacionally wont
because c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt does not exist.

When I search the computer for the file, it is located in
the windows\repair directory, so I just copy it back to
the correct directory and the program works fine for a
while, and then all of a sudden the autoexec file is no
longer in the system32 directory.

Any suggestions?
THANKS

Hello,

This could be caused by a program called 'windupdate' check control
panel/add remove programs to see if it's listed, if so remove it.
As far as i can tell this is advertisement related software so it may also
be worth scanning your computer with something like adaware from
www.lavasoftusa.com .

Hope this helps

Hi

Error message when you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit
Windows-based program
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324767

You can put back the standard version of autoexec.nt/config.nt by
copying a backup copy held in %windir%\repair\ to %windir%\system32\
(%windir% is typically C:\Windows) instead of using the procedure in
the KB article above.

Could be caused a trojan or something similar, e.g.
TrojanDownloader.Win32.Dia.a, more about this here:
http://groups.google.com/[email protected]

Also, AVAST (antivirus software) can be the cause if you
have WinXP SP2 installed:

Two possible causes:

Also, AVAST (antivirus software) can be the cause if you
have WinXP SP2 installed:

and run an up to date check with a good AV program anyway
