I keep losing autoexec.nt

G

Grant Baxter

I read on this newsgroup that autoexec.nt can get infected, and that
the copy in "repair" could be used.

My problem is that I've run Adaware, Pestpatrol, Spybot S&D etc,
copied autoexec.nt to system32. 16 bit apps work fine. I reboot my
computer, and autoexec.nt is missing again.

Anyone have any suggestions?

TIA,

I don't see a mention of a full-featured, current version antivirus in
that list above. What are you using? Scan in Safe Mode after getting
all virus definitions updates.

Are AD Aware, Spybot S&D and PestPatrol up to date? It looks like you still
have some type of trojan on your system.

I assume you update AdAware and Spybot S & D before running them.

Go to: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware]

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates: "hijackthis.log")

Next, go to the below location:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the "Spyware and Hijackware Removal" section.
Press "New Topic" and post a description of your symptoms. If they need to
see your log they will ask for it.
