When I turn on my PC, my phone loses it's dial tone (just
a silence) or sometimes it tries to make call to a number
that is not in service. Disconnecting the phone line from
the PC's modem restores the dial tone.
I suspect some Ad or spyware programs might run on the
background. Here's what I did so far to get rid of it:
- Uninstalled Kazaa and Napster.
- Run Spysweeper software and removed bugs.
- On the 'msconfig' utility disabled all programs from
startup.
- Un/reinstalled modem from Device manager.
What else I can try?

disable the automatic dialing in internet explorer,

if u have any other application which needs or which
accessess internet, check with their settings too,

In Internet explorer, set it to Never Dial A Connection.
