autocomplete question

(Running XP Home & IE6 on a new Dell PC, fresh install with all the updates)

A friend has a brand new computer, still fresh out of the box and shiny. He
uses hotmail to access mail and on their old PC was in the habit of
beginning to type in an email address and seeing IE offer a complete entry
for selection (I think it's autocomplete).

At the moment it doesn't do this, so I suggested 2 possibilities: Tools >
Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete and all the ticks; followed by
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Use inline AutoComplete.

Now, the option still doesn't work, despite the same string having been
entered ½ a dozen times. Is there another setting I should adjust?

TIA

Hi,
Sounds like the right boxes are ticked. Is the friend accessing Hotmail via
the web or through Outlook Express?

Through the web.

I think it would be the IE autocomplete suggesting these addresses- not some
Hotmail feature. If autocomplete works on other forms (searches, etc) it
should start to work in this situation after each address has been typed
once and is in the autocomplete cache.
