Autocomplete Memory Cache Empties Every Time I Close Down Outlook

Every time I close down Outlook, the memory cache for autocomplete seems to
empty. While I have it open, it remembers all of the addresses that I've
used in that session, but once closed down and restarted, I'm back to having
no cache memory again.... Can anyone help?

I'm running Windows XP (SP2) and Office Outlook 2003 (SP1)..

Thanks in advance...

I looked a little further down in some of the older posts and found similar
problems - the answer seems to be to create a new profile - however, if I do
this, I end up losing all of my emails - how do I prevent this from
happening???

Many thanks,
Richard

This is often an issue with a corrupt mail profile. Create a new one with
Control Panel>User Accounts>Mail>Show Profile>Add. Point the new profile at
your existing PST.

Before creating a new profile you could try resetting the cache by renaming
your nk2-file to .old

To answer your question no; you'll not loose e-mails

To create a new profile (do not copy it);
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles

To access your current pst-file in the new profile;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

To set it as the default delivery location;
Tools-> E-mail Accounts...-> button Next-> use the dropdownlist below

OK, I have managed to do this, created a new profile, and kept my emails, and
it has solved the problem of autocomplete...

BUT... Even though I have my old address book, when I click on 'to' while
creating a new message, it doesn't find the address book to insert names from
- how do I redirect it to look at my existing address book?

First try right-clicking your Contacts folder and choosing Properties.
Click the Outlook Address Book tab and see if you can check the "Show this
folder as an e-mail Address Book" box. If so, you're done. If not, close
the properties and click Tools>E-mail Accounts>Add a new directory or
address book>Next. Select "Additional Address Books" and click Next.
Select Outlook Address Book and click Next, then FInish. Now go back to
your Contacts properties and check the box I already mentioned.

Thanks Brian - looks like all problems are now sorted, and Outlook is running
as it should - thanks for the help, very much appreciated...
