Not sure if this is the right forum, but I certainly need some support.
Windows XP Pro SP2 installed in my computer on two Hard Drives, using OSL2000
Boot Manager. System booted normally on either of the two.
Recently, on the Slave HDD, the system runs past the Windows Logo, then
displays:
autochk not found skipping AUTOCHECK.
It then throws up a Stop error that the Session Manager Initialization
System process terminated unexpectantly.
Safe Mode produces the same result.
As the Master can be accessed, I did a file check for the file Autochk.exe
on the Jrive (the Slave) and found it in C:\System32. I even copied it to
the Root of J:\, still with no luck.
A Google search found the following:
---------------
Boot in safe mode and search for C:\WINDOWS\system32\autochk.exe and
then rename it to autochk.exe.bak.Now start your system normally.
Further ref:-
'Chkdsk.exe or Autochk.exe starts when you try to shut down or restart
your computer'
