AutoArchive deleting mail

Guest

We have recently switched to Outlook, and I am setting a policy for all email
older than 30 days to autoarchive.

In the Outlk11.adm GP template, I have set the following:
Turn On AutoArchive
Run AutoArchive every <1> day
Archive or delete old items

I had the Retention Policy set for 30 in each box. I thought this was the
cause of the problem, so I turned off the retention policy, but it somehow
came back on.
My users are seeing items being deleted rather than archived.

1. Why are items being deleted and not archived.
2. How do I set the Archive to run every day and to archive anything older
than 30 days since the last modification.
3. Where does MS have detailed descriptions of these settings and what they
do. (In the GP window, the Explain tabs are even blank.)

Please help!

How do you know they're not being archived? Did you check the target archive .pst file(s)?

The default Archive.pst located in the users' Outlook folder is the base
265KB size. When the archive is opened, there are no emails. I have also
have Personal Folders with e-mail that is being deleted--I figure that was
because of the retention policy originally set.

Hope you can shed some light on this. Thanks!

You checked the default archive .pst file, but did you look at the settings for the particular folder that you're concerned about? Maybe it has non-default settings.
