.What is your ?
Do you want to stop WM from accessing until you want it
to? Or do you want to know soonner that someone says hi?
If it's the latter one then get broadband.

On messenger go into Tools, then options then click on the tab that says General then there is a box ticked that says start messenger automaticall when windows starts, unclick it and this should stop it from logging you on automatically

Greetings,

You have two options. Firstly, instead of leaving Windows Messenger running, simply close it
when you're not using it (right-click the Windows Messenger icon and choose Exit), and
disable it from loading when you start your computer (open up the main Windows Messenger
window, click the Tools menu, then Options, then Preferences, then uncheck 'Run this program
when Windows starts' or 'Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts' (depending on version)
and click OK.

Secondly, you can leave it running, but you can just remove your saved Passport information
in your Windows XP account, so it can't sign in automatically (although you'll need to type
your login/password everytime you wish to sign in). To do so, click the Start Button, then
click the Control Panel. Then, click User Accounts in the Control Panel. Select your account
name, and then on the left side of the screen, under Related Tasks, click 'Manage my Network
Passwords'. In the window that opens, click the Passport.Net\* (Passport) entry and click
'Remove'.
