Auto replacements for misspelled words

I have Office 2003. I selected in Outlook 'Tools,' 'Options,' 'Spelling,' and
checked the box for 'Always suggest replacements for misspelled words,' but
this feature doesn't work, whether I use 'Word' as my editor or not. Spell
Check works OK when I check that box.

Is this a Microsoft problem? Thanks to anyone who can provide some insight.

If you want Auto Replace to work, you've got to check that box (in the same
area "Always suggest replacements." It's the bottom check box). The "Always
suggest replacements" option won't auto correct them, but only suggest
replacements (as it says), either when you right-click it or when you spell
check.

I see ... when it's checked, it works in conjuction with SpellCheck and
offers "suggestions." When it's not checked, it just points out the word as
misspelled, without suggestions.

BTW -- If I 'Right Click' the word in question, and 'suggestions' is
checked, it offers A set of choices similar to the 'Edit' command, but no
'suggestions.'

Thanks a lot.
