Auto Complete Passwords

Guest

I have an eMachine which I just got with XP Home and SP2.
I am trying to save my passwords for websites. I answer the question by
clicking YES. When I go back to the site and ask me for the password, I have
to re-enter the info. Can anyone help with with this problem? I also have
another computer with XP Pro and have no problems, and tried to make sure
that the settings were the same.

Hi there,

check under Tools | Internet Options | Content and make sure your
AutoComplete settings are the way you want them.

I already did that and they are set correctly.

Tara,
Do you have any third party spyware programs, such as a toolbar, provided by Yahoo, Google, etc... You will need to check if there is a setting to delete cookies or clear forms automatically when closing browser. Also check the same, in security suite programs such as Norton or McAfee.

I do have a security suite, which is provide by my DSL carrier, which is
associated with yahoo. I looked all over the place for settings and there
were none. This problem is driving me crazy. I really don't want to spend
money to get a program like roboform.

I've tried all the steps. In Method 3, I got a message that RSABase.dll was
not found. It is not even on my system. I could follow method 4, seeing
that I have XP.
No luck. This is driving me crazy. I'm wondering if it has something to do
with the eMachine computer, since all I got was a restore disk instead of the
actual XP operating system disk, like I did with my Dell.

Hi,
This article http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306895 applies to Win2000.
You won't have RSABase.dll on WinXP.

Did you try this:
The AutoComplete feature does not work after you enable it in Internet
Explorer on a computer that is running Windows XP Home Edition:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=885180

Or, create a new user account. See if AutoComplete works in a new user
account.

Don't delete the old profile until you're SURE that all important data has
been transferred- Outlook Express data, in particular. In fact, it won't
hurt to keep the old account around for a while.

Many sites, especially financial ones, do not allow IE to save passwords.

I tried the first suggestion link. I find the key, but when I try to export
it, I get a error message stating that it can't be found. I also tried to
delete the key, but it won't delete. I guess I will just have to buy a
password saver like Roboform.
