My IE auto complete settings quit working

Recently my IE6.0 used with XP Pro Edition stopped saving passwords. I've
gone into Internet Options>Content>Auto Complete Settings and have checked
all the boxes to auto complete web addresses,Forms,User Names and passwords
on forms, and have checked Prompt me to save passwords. I even went to
Kelly's Korner and downloaded the fix to IE prompt for saved passwords.
Didn't work. I posted in XP security newsgroups and was advised to an
Outlook Express fix by Doug Knox which was also unsuccessful. They referred
me to this newsgroup upon that failure. How can I restore my saved password
and prompt for saved passwords? Thanks
