Auto Archive - where did the messages go?

I have a user on Win98 (non-profit organization with limited money) using
Outlook 2000. Outlook prompted her to auto archive. She clicked yes and now
some of her e-mails are gone (I'm assuming they were archived). However,
when checking the path for the archive pst file, it wasn't archiving to
archive.pst, but rather to mailbox.pst. I'm assuming it was trying to
archive to itself? So, where would those e-mails have gone? I've had her
open the archive.pst file but the e-mails listed (there are a few) are not
the ones she's looking for. And yes, I've had her change the path so it will
archive to the archive.pst file in the future.
(Oh, this is a stand-alone machine).
Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions/help!

The name of the .pst file that contains the archive is unimportant. The items should be in whatever .pst file the archived folders were set up to archive to.

I think that was the trick - I had my user do a copy paste of the pst file
(just in case)and access the copy file - looks like the items are in the pst
file.
Thanks!
