I have a laptop Advent 8645 which was originally supplied
with the WIN98SE O/S

Upgraded to Xp Home but now find there are no drivers for
the Aureal Software Modem.

What is a solution to adopt here so that connection to
the Internet is possible?

What is a solution to adopt here so that connection to
the Internet is possible?

Purchase a card modem for the laptop to insert in one of the available
slots. Also go into the CMOS setup program of the laptop and disable
the built in modem.

Or, if your laptop has a built in NIC you could connect via telephone
DSL or cable broadband using an external modem provided by the
telephone company or the cable company.
