Help!!! I've got an older dell dimension 4300 at home. Daughter's friends
were on it this weekend and I think they deleted the sound files. There is
no audio at all. Via control panel, area looks blank. Can anybody help with
how or what to reinstall for audio? thanks - el stevo

What makes you think "they deleted the sound files"? A bit more Detailed
information is needed.
What exactly do you mean by " Via control panel, area looks blank"?
Are you stating that in Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices properties
Audio tab, there are no devices listed or the entire "Sound and Audio
Devices properties" is blank?
Is your audio device listed in Device Manager > Sound,Video and Game
Controllers?
