Audio Recording Problem!

Something keeps happening every single time I record
a audio file from my microphone. It records background
hiss... At first I thought this way my microphone doing
this, so I unplugged the microphone and then I
clicked 'record' and it STILL recorded the same
background hiss... This got my thinking it's the
program, so I tried several different programs but the
same thing happens.

When I play a music file and I have the file playing
while I'm recording from my microphone, you can hear the
music in the background of the recording... BUT, then I
tried letting the music play, and turning OFF my
speakers, so that the sound is inaudible (but I still
have the music playing on the screen), it STILL picks up
the music very faintly in the back ground of the
recording!!

And I don't have an internal Mic, and my 'MIC Boost 2db'
is off...

Can you PLEASE help me!!

.
R.click the sound icon next to the clock, open volume-
control,options,properties,check the mic.box and adjust
the volume.
