Audio Player Question

I am wondering why so many audio players out there such as CoolPlayer,
XMPlay, etc. can play a range of audio formats (Mp3, Ogg, etc), but not
CDs (.cda files)?
There are great players out there that can do this, such as Media
Player Classic, WinAmp, QCD, etc., that do this no problem.

What I cant figure out is why some developers do this, when it is not
at all difficult to implement?
(this has always been a mystery to me :)

Most can, if you have the correct CDA plugin.

Sometimes you have to search a bit, or use their forum.
