I have captured a video with wmm1.1 from digital 8 camcorder, with out clips,
then I put that in time frame, and did the same to change, wmv file into
avi, by saving movie in avi NTSC format. when i played back the saved movie,
the audio lags , both picture and audio are clear,In WMV FILE both are good,
no lagging. Am doing something wrong? please help?

It takes a lot more horsepower for a computer to play a DV-AVI file smoothly
than it does to play the much more compressed WMV files. So it might just be
that both files are fine and your system can use a tuneup to play the DV-AVI
file smoothly.

Thanks for the reply, Actually i want to burn the movie, into a cd, as a
beginner, i need more clarification, I don't get the meaning of tuneup.what
else i need to play this avi smoothly

,Also which file is better compared to avi files , to burn a cd, for playing
back in a dvd player?

Putting it another way... a DV-AVI is a very high quality file that is the
same as that on the tape of a digital camcorder. The high quality equates to
high file size and bitrate, so high that it isn't practical for routine
viewing or distribution. It's a stepping stone to get other files that can
be easily played and distributed, so there often isn't a need to have the
DV-AVI file play smoothly.

There aren't any better than DV-AVI for all the info you want to make movies
from.... movies made from the DV-AVI file will play fine if the DV-AVI file
is all there (no dropped frames).

By tune-up I mean free up hard drive space so there's lots of elbow room,
and defrag the hard drive. Beyond that, minimize any other running
applications if you need to.... beyond that, your system may not be able to
play DV-AVI files smoothly.

I defragmented the system and again changed wmv file into avi file
, but the same problem, there, sound lags, but both audio and video are of
good qualityin avi file, ,but the sound is not synchronised with the
images.since it is an educational video so sound is important, with the
video. In wmvfile, both video and audio are fine, synchronises, only after
changing it into avi problem arises
what should i do?

I have 2.8 ghz, 40 gb 128mb video memory dell inspiron computer
