Audio in Windows XP Pro

My audio has not worked since I installed Windows XP
Pro. Any suggestions?
I use a Compaq Presario 12xl505
I believe the preexisting drivers were VIA AC'97

Well go to compaq. com and look up your pc model
and type and it should have drivers for XP
