audio drivers for windowsXP

I recently installed windows XP pro on a newly purchased
Compaq SR1020NX computer which came preloaded with
windows XP home edition.

After loading the new OS, the computer will no longer
make noises. The device manager shows conflicts
under "other devices", on the:
Multimedia Audio controller
SM bus Controller
Video controller ( VGA Compatible)

Additionally, in the control panel, under "Sounds and
Audio Devices" icon, on the volume (first) tab, none of
the options are available - all options are greyed out.

Any suggestions for a fix?
