Audio Diminished

After 6 months of owning my Compaq notebook the sound has
suddenly decreased in its maximum output by 90%. I have
looked at all the audio levels yet both internal and
external (when connected) speaker have a decreased level.

How can I reinstate the Sound output level to its former
glory?

You should definitely call Compaq tech support as this sounds like a
hardware issue.
